The Revolution: 2. Rebellion to Revolution (0:45) 2006
This episode of The Revolution focuses on George Washington becoming Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Army. Washington faced an uphill battle in forming an army comprised of 13 state militias. Added to merging these units into one army, Washington faced a lack of ammunition, supplies, and many men who many had enlisted for just a year. A Boston bookseller, Knox, became a junior officer when he and his men brought the cannons and other weapons from Fort Ticonderoga to Boston. This helped bring about an evacuation of British troops and Boston loyalists from the city. As this episode ends, King George is sending an greatly increased number of troops to the colonies.
