The Mighty Macs (1:40) 2011
Set in the early 1970s, Cathy Rush takes a job as a coach of a Catholic college womens' basketball team. Immaculata College is in financial trouble, the gym has burned down and the girls have no chance of having a winning team. Cathy starts coaching with the help of one of the young nuns who is having doubts about her vocation. The girls need to develop skills, the ability to work as a team and a belief in themselves. Based on a true events, the team overcome incredible odds to receive an invitation to the first National Women's Basketball Tournament. I highly recommend this movie. It starts out like a made for television movie but this family movie has wonderful messages. As the Cinderella story unfolds it becomes very easy to become their biggest fan. By the end of the movie, the nuns are praying for a win and the audience is cheering so the heavens can hear.
