Bride Flight (2:10) 2008
Bride Flight is a film from the Netherlands. Three women, Ada, Esther, Marjorie and Frank leave for New Zealand as part of the Last Great Air Race from London to Christchurch in October 1953. They are all wanting to build new lives while escaping post World War II Europe. The four meet on the plane ride and become friends. And friends with benefits. The women are joining their finance, or husband or starting a business. Frank's ambition is to become a farmer. Relationships are formed, romances develop, and life moves on as these four lives become intertwined. The film begins in 2008 with the death of Frank and told in flashbacks. This was a very good movie. Both my daughter and I enjoyed it very much. The characters were likable and believable. The New Zealand scenery was absolutely marvelous. At times, the movie had a soap opera feel but it was a guilty pleasure. Hooray for this Dutch chick flick.
