Ingredients (1:06) 2011
Ingredients is a real gem of a documentary. Buying food from local farms is highlighted with organic farms in Oregon, Ohio and New York being featured. There are many scenes of crops being harvested and sent to nearby local restaurants and farm markets. Several chefs are interviewed as they explain the reasons they have made the shift from large food vendors to farmers with whom they have a personal connection. This is an excellent documentary which lead me to reexamine both my buying and eating habits. The documentary is divided into four sections, one section for each season. After viewing Ingredients, I'm actually looking forward to winter for the seasonal foods but not for the weather. My suggestion is that Ingredients belongs high on the queue as it gives a lot of food for thought. As Julia Childs would say "Bon Appetit."
