Super 8 (1:51) 2011

In the summer of 1979, Joe and Charlie are spending summer vacation filming a zombie movie for a Super 8 film contest for teenagers. As they are filming a scene by the railroad station of their small Ohio town, the passing freight train derails. The derailment is deliberately caused by their science teacher driving into the engine.  Soon after the derailment, the military arrives to investigate the crash. Quickly, the residents find that their microwaves, engines, and other metal items are missing. The town's dogs have run away to later be found in a neighboring county. What is the cause of these mysterious events? What is the military covering up?  This is a fun summer movie which reminded me of the movie The Goonies but this time with a science fiction theme. The kids are cute, funny and quirky. The special effects are impressive and enhance to the quickly paced story. See it!
