The Day the Earth Stood Still (1:57) 2008

This 2008 version is a remake of the 1951 science fiction classic of the same name. Keanu Reeves plays Klaatu, an alien who wants to save the Earth.  Helen, a scientist, helps Klaatu not realizing that he really save the Earth, not the people of Earth. I watched the original version starring Michael Rennie a long time ago and really do not remember the storyline. I did like this updated version, Reeves was convincing as the alien. John Hamm, of Mad Men fame, was an FBI agent and I like him .  . . a lot! The special effects were impressive. The strongest part of the movie was the message, we need to take action to protect the Earth and not wait for a crisis.
