The Adventures of Tintin (1:45) 2011
Tintin is a journalist in search of the big story in this Spielberg animated adventure. Tintin buys a ship model unaware that the ship holds one of three clues to a long lost gold treasure. Tintin pairs with Hackett, a ship captain, whose grandfather had lost the gold when his ship was sunk. They travel the world pursuing the two other clues as they are being pursued by Red Rackham, who will use any method to obtain all of the clues. Will Tintin, his dog Snowy, and Hackett survive a place crash in the dessert, being shot at by Rackham's men, and cast overboard in a lifeboat? Will they find the three clues? Will they find the gold? The style of the animation reminds me of an Indiana Jones adventure without the love interest. I thought the movie was too long by about fifteen to twenty minutes. The computer graphics were impressive but the storyline not so much. My nephews liked the movie, I thought it so-so. Based on a comic book series by the Belgian Herge, I'm not quite sure how American children will respond to this movie.
