Latif Yahia is a lieutenant in the Iraqi army fighting the Iranians. Unfortunately, he is a classmate of Uday Hussein and even more unfortunately, looks like him. Latif is drafted to be Uday's body double. Of course, this is an offer he can't refuse. Latif undergoes plastic surgery and dental work to look even more like Uday.
Latif is given clothes, watches, an extravagant lifestyle, and lives in Uday's palace so he can be at his Uday's beck and call. As Latif spends time with Uday, he realizes that Uday is insane. He witnesses Uday's cruelty, his drunkenness and his drug-fueled mistreatment of women and young girls. Dominic Cooper plays both Latif and Uday brilliantly. The Devil's Double is a fascinating and disturbing look at Hussein and his inner circle filled with decadence, brutality and madness. Although there are a more than a few scenes that will turn your stomach, it really is worth renting.
