Daddy Longlegs (1:38) 2010
Lenny, the divorced father of two young boys, is living in New York City and works as a movie projectionist. His boys, Sage and Frey, live with their mother and spend two weeks of vacation time with their dad. Lenny, who loves his boys, is not a responsible father and puts his needs first. Lenny is impulsive, self-centered, displays poor judgement and needs to grow up. Their vacation time together is very trying for Lenny as he tries to juggle work and fatherhood. He doesn't rise to the occasion and places his children in harm's way. Will the two weeks push him in a new direction - that of a responsible adult? Daddy Longlegs was an independent film which was nominated for an American Spirit Award last year. The movie is low budget in both look and feel. It is an interesting look at parenthood when one of the parents is lacking in the skills needed for this most important job. Being a teacher, I am a mandated reporter when children are suspected of being neglected and abused. Good thing I wasn't in this movie, as Lenny would have been reported to the authorities making this an entirely different movie.
