My Week with Marilyn (1:39) 2011
Bottom line: Run to the nearest theater to see this movie! Michelle Williams is excellent as Marilyn Monroe and is supported by a fine cast including the great Judi Dench. The film takes place in 1956 when Marilyn is in England to shoot what later came known as The Prince and The Showgirl. Marilyn was directed by her co-star Sir Laurence Olivier, who quickly becomes frustrated with her late arrivals as well as her flubbing and forgetting her lines. The film is based on the memoirs of Colin Clark, a twenty-three year old 3rd assistant director working on his first job. Williams is very convincing as she shows Marilyn's battling her insecurities and her doubts. Colin is very taken, just as all the men are, with Marilyn and falls in love with her as she relies on him more and more on and off the set. Everyone warns Colin that she will break his heart, but it's Marilyn. Who wouldn't give his right arm for that opportunity?
