The Donner Party (1:35) 2009
The Donner Party is well known in the westward movement history of the United States. In 1846, a group of pioneers traveled to California in covered wagons. The Donner Party took a new route across the mountains. There were many delays in the journey and the party was caught in the Sierra Nevada's with early winter snowstorms. Running out of food and members weakening and dying, a small group decide to walk to California to bring back a rescue party. The reason the Donner Party is so well known is, when they were faced with no food, they resorted to cannibalizing the members of their party. This is a very gritty and realistic retelling of this infamous group of pioneers.
