Jack and Molly Campbell are a wealthy couple living the good life with their beloved adopted son, Joey, in Georgia. In Ohio, Rip Porter is released from prison after a seven year term. He reunites with his wife Wendy who tells him that he has a son and the son was put up for adoption soon after Rip was sent to prison. Rip, having never relinquished custody, pursues gaining custody of Joey. The Ohio courts agree with Wendy and Rip and the Campbells are faced with giving up their son. The Campbells are thinking of fleeing the country with Joey, Wendy Porter experiences Rip's issue with anger management and has second thoughts and Joey is caught in the middle. This is a fairly well done realistic movie, Jack and Molly are a loving couple who relationship start to splinter under stress. Rip wants a son but is not ready to be a father. Wendy is a very sympathetic character. She comes to realize that she loves her son so much that she has to let him go. This is quite a gem of a movie.
