Russell Brand is Arthur in this updated version of a very wealthy man who hasn't grown up. Brand continues Dudley Moore's portrayal of a lovable, fun loving, charming alcoholic millionaire who relies on his nanny as he aimlessly goes through life. Helen Mirren is just perfect as the long serving English nanny, Hobson. She is the nurturing but firm mother who has been with him since he has been a little boy. The plot of the movie revolves around his mother insisting he marry Susan, a high powered executive, who will carry on the family business. Arthur agrees to this arranged marriage but falls in love with Naomi, a tour guide. Will true love conquer all? This is a movie that is getting poor reviews but my friend Judy and I liked it. Yes, it is predictable and far fetched. I like Arthur's character development as he realizes that he is leading an empty life. Russell Brand is delightful as the Peter Pan character. Helen Mirren is priceless as the quick witted nanny with some wonderful one-liners. All in all, it is a movie about sweet people who care for each other and it is fun.
