Queen of the Sun highlights the plight of the bee in the face of colony collapse disorder. The documentary discusses the reasons that millions of bees are dying. Pesticides, monoculture and genetic engineering are all causes of bee distress. We are greatly dependent on bees worldwide for the pollination of 40% of our fruit and vegetables. Organic beekeepers around the world are doing what they can to offset colony collapse disorder by setting up bee sancturies.
