The Joneses (1:36) 2009
A married couple (David Duchovy and Demi Moore) with two teenage children move into a well-to-do gated community. They are the perfect family. Except they aren't. The four members of the "unit" are employed to show off all their belongings, cars, clothes and gadgets to inspire their neighbors to "keep up with the Joneses." Steve Jones turns out to be a very nice man and has second thoughts about living a fake life especially when he falls for his "wife" Kate. This movie has an interesting concept as it looks at ultimate consumerism. The Joneses starts out as a lighthearted comedy but as the characters develop, the movie becomes much more serious. I don't think it is a great movie but I'm glad that I rented it. I liked all the characters and it was interesting watching them struggle with real life issues in their fake lives. It is worth a rental.
